A Moment Ago
A moment ago, the whole world seemed like darkness,
A deep, all consuming, eternal black abyss.
A cold, ebon void, a deep gulf of nothingness.
All of it frozen, bleak, numb and meaningless.
Love was a wounding torturer, vicious,
And Fate a devious, mocking mistress.
Hope a cruel, cold-hearted temptress.
And Time was demon to stretch out my distress.
And then you came, with a few soft spoken words,
You took this miserable, melancholic scene,
And rotated by barely a few degrees.
And your deep words to bring into view,
A magical candle, shining bright and true.
It did shine its warm light and cut through the dark,
Going deep inside me, and melting this heart.
And so I stood in wonder, at the new flame of hope you had given.
I was left to stand, enraptured, gazing at your candle.
Wondrously enchnted, how I was left to marvel,
At how different things can seem,
When viewed from just a slightly different angle.
